Are you a "Half empty" or a "Half full" kind of person?
I can honestly say that I am always see things as half full rather than half empty. What is the difference, you may ask?
I believe it is the difference between a positive mindset and a negative one. When you see something as half full you are saying that there is more to come from it, whereas when one sees something as half empty you are counting down until it is all gone.
I woke up this morning to a snow covered landscape and, with a flight back to the US today, this could be a situation where I start to be pessimistic or choose to remain optimistic. I chose the latter, I checked the current flights out of London Gatwick to make sure they are leaving without issue, I checked the weather forecast for the next 5 hours, and guess what? All is fine so all we have to do is set off a little earlier.
Your glass is always "half full" so approach life with this mindset and watch what you can achieve.
Many of us worry about what happened in the past and what could happen in the future. We are so busy with this that we actually forget that which is the most important and the only thing we can influence - TODAY!
If we are honest we have all done things in the past that we regret - we wouldn't be human if we hadn't. We cannot change it, all we can do is learn from it and take action to make sure we do not make the same mistake again.
The same is true of the future as merely thinking about it and worrying about what could go wrong is not actually doing anything to change it - you can't change something that hasn't happened any way.
Today is the only day that we can take action so I encourage you to do so. Live your life the way you want to. Find the things that make you happy and do more of them. By doing this your future will be happier and then you will have nothing to worry about.
Perspective: the interrelation in which a subject or its parts are mentally viewed.
This is a definition from Websters dictionary and why did I want to share this today? I am originally from the UK and moved to Florida in 2011 so for 45 years I was used to the UK weather. Today, however, I have a different perspective on temperature. Being used to Florida weather the relatively mild 50 degrees in England feels cold, but that is just my perspective.
My point is this: we sometimes make opinions based on a snippet of information, that may or may not be fact, but our perspective is that it is the truth. Don't always judge a book by it's cover, take time to investigate, find out the truth, and make sure that your perspective is reality.
As I reflect on my blog posts and thoughts I have decided to use three categories to combine thoughts together:
I will be using the "Mind" category to share things that are "Thoughts". Everything starts with a thought so the mind is an area I will concentrate a lot.
"Body" is the action that you take to put your thoughts into practice - as Nike famously say, "Just do it"
Last, but my no means least, the "Soul" category will include blogs that relate to your feelings and emotions.
I hope you enjoy reading the blogs and feel free to reach out to me with suggestions and feedback.
As the world becomes a smaller place it is common for families to live further apart. I live in the US and my family is all back in the UK for example.
Family is everything and we sometimes forget that, it is too easy to take family for granted and assume that they will always be there for us without making the effort to connect regularly.
I have fallen into this trap and as I prepare to fly back for a few days to attend a funeral I have been pondering on this and intend to make a change moving forward.
Family is everything so make the most of them and don't leave any chance for regret.
When you think of the word grow what do you see?
Here is what I see:
What I mean by this is that you need to be intentional about your future and start taking steps to move forward. It doesn't matter how fast you are moving, the important thing is to keep moving.
Tomorrow we will talk about what wealth is........
If.......the word that starts an alibi - a reason for not achieving something, an excuse, a way of absolving responsibility. How many of these have you used recently:
If only it were the right time......
If only someone would give me a break.......
If only I knew how.......
If I didn't have so many worries.......
If I wasn't in so much debt.......
If I had more time.......
If luck was on my side......
If I only had a business of my own......
If I could just get started.......
Get rid of the IF, remove the alibi, and start making a difference for yourself - you will be amazed at the results and rewards.
You have probably heard this before and it is true. This works in your professional life and also in your personal life. When you feel alone every task and challenge seems huge yet if you have support around you they shrink and become more manageable.
Don't be afraid to ask for help or accept it when offered. Strength is in TEAM.
Habits can be good, or they can be bad.
What is a habit?
A habit is a behavior done with little or no conscious thought.
Successful people have formed good habits, unsuccessful people have formed bad habits.
So what habits do you have and are they helping or hindering your progress?
"You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine"
What does your daily routine consist of?
Are there things that you can change?
What is in your current routine that doesn't add value to your goal?
Every action has a reaction so be intentional about the actions you take because these will influence the results.
